Alistair Briffett

Managing Director

Alistair joined March Construction in 2018 after returning home to New Zealand from the UK. Prior to this, he worked for Bachy Soletanche UK for 8 years, including as Geotechnical Works Manager for the prestigious major project, Thames Tideway. Throughout his 15 years in the industry, Alistair has gained experience in management, design, on-site operations, and leading work-winning teams. Throughout his career, Alistair has also contributed significantly to the wider construction industry, including as a founding member of the New Zealand Federation of Piling Specialist. Alistair has championed March Constructions drive for greater collaborative contracting, specifically their drive for greater Early Contractor Involvement engagements.

Andy March

General Manager – South Island Operations

Andy joined March Construction in 1991. As a family owned business, construction was in his blood but he learnt the ropes from the ground up fulfilling every operational role from labourer through to foreman over a decade, before moving into Operations Management. In 2005 he became a co-owner of the business with his brother Guy and father Buzz one of the co-founders of March. In 2012 upon the sale of March Construction to Soletanche Bachy he continued in this role before being appointed General Manager in 2020. Andy is passionate about the business and the construction industry. He leads from the front and is actively engaged in mentoring and developing March’s operational and project management staff. Well respected in the industry Andy is regularly engaged by Engineering Consultants providing advice on constructability for projects particularly around temporary works and is leading March’s ECi involvement with local authorities in the 3 Waters sector .

Aynsley Griffths

Business Development Manager

As March’s Business Development Manager, Aynsley has 20 years in the New Zealand water industry and thrives in roles including project management, pre-contracts management, business development and bid management. Aynsley brings to March his wealth of experience in ECI, Design & Construction of major water infrastructure including pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants and structures. In recent years, Aynsley has been deeply involved in the Watercare Enterprise 10-year capital works programme where he led the pre-contract services for Fletcher Construction involving ECI, project development and Bid Management for major water infrastructure through a collaborative contracting model.

Jeremy Buckley

Finance Manager

Jeremy is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 13 years’ professional experience across a range of indsutries. He commenced with March Construction in 2024 after moving to New Zealand from Australia. Jeremy’s role encompasses overseeing the Finance and Administration team and is responsible for all compliance, tax, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting processes for the business. His diverse skills allow him to build productive working relationships with key stakeholders.

Outside of the office, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his young family, squeezing in a round of golf when he can and also loves his Australian Rules Football

Nick Wharmby

Technical Manager

Nick has over 35 years of experience in specialist geotechnical construction field in Europe and the Asia Pacific region . Before coming to New Zealand in 2004 his technical role was in the design and construction space developing efficient innovative foundations and retaining wall solutions; matching design and construction methodology with project requirements. Nick effectively re-joined the Soletanche Bachy group when starting with March Construction in 2015 and re-established links to technical experts and the methodologies available globally.

Nick is actively involved in the wider geotechnical community and has published a number of case study papers, contributed to best practice guidelines and specifications with the aim of disseminating information and raising standards in the industry to improve efficiency / value for money.

Jeremia Tjandra

Operations Manager – North Island and Geotechnical Projects

Jeremia joined March in 2023, bringing over 15 years of extensive experience in tunnel and ground engineering projects across New Zealand and Singapore. His diverse portfolio includes managing complex projects that have significantly contributed to the infrastructure development in both countries.

Jeremia began his New Zealand journey with the Karangahape Station mined tunnel in Auckland, where he played a pivotal role in leading site facility establishment, shaft construction, tunnel excavation, and the installation of primary and secondary linings, internal structures, and advanced ground support techniques such as rock bolting and shotcreting.

In addition to his tunnelling expertise, Jeremia has extensive experience in bored piling, ground improvement, and diaphragm walls. He was also heavily involved in land and marine vibro compaction projects during his tenure in Singapore, further showcasing his versatility in geotechnical solutions.
